Your Swimwear Can Be Stylish Too
This week we're revisiting the swimwear guide because your swimsuit isn’t just something you throw on—it’s the foundation of an entire look. The 2026 Swimwear Guide was created to help you shift your mindset from “just a suit” to fully styled water wear. Because when you start treating your swimsuit like an outfit, that intention that you bring to your outfit for a night out expands. You feel more put-together, more confident, and more stylish—whether you’re poolside with your kids or stepping into a resort lobby for lunch.
The difference is in the details. It may seem silly to put jewelry on for a swimming function, or to consider your hat anything more than a sun shade, but accessories are what elevate your swimwear from functional to styled. Think of your suit as your base layer, then build from there: a breezy button-down worn open, a sarong tied low on the hips, or a lightweight linen pant for added polish. Add structure with a great sandal or elevated slide, and finish with personality—oversized sunglasses, a straw tote, gold jewelry, or even a silk scarf in your hair. These aren’t afterthoughts—they’re what make your swimwear feel like a complete, intentional outfit.
Here in NJ we have a pool, but we also live close to the beach and the way I style my suits for both differs. At the pool, whether it's my own or a tropical resort, I like to be a little more dramatic. Tailor your pool look based on your function. If you're at a tropical resort, maybe you up the glam a bit with a shimmery crochet cover up. If the vibe is more of a low key family pool party, a cute set that doubles as your outfit (like this) when you're done swimming is perfect!
When I am styling someone for the beach or if we're headed to the shore, I love a pair of linen shorts and an open button down, or even a sarong. I'm always considering the ocean breeze when dressing for the beach, so a button down or a sarong are great to wrap around your shoulders. Complete the look with a hat, sunnies and a beachy accessory like a statement earring with shells or a dainty waterproof necklace.
This guide was designed to give you options, inspiration, and the tools to stop second-guessing what to wear. Because the right swimwear—styled with intention—does more than just fit. It transforms how you show up. Your swimsuit is the outfit, now let’s style it like one.
