Your Most Stylish Spring Yet
Spring is in full swing, and with it comes a calendar full of moments worth showing up for - stylishly. From bridal celebrations and graduations to black tie evenings, cocktail parties, and relaxed gatherings at home, this is the season where your wardrobe should rise to meet your life.
I find that Spring energizes people and creates some urgency for newness, especially around event time so this week, I’ve curated a collection of fully styled looks designed to take the guesswork out of getting dressed. Everything from thoughtful accessories, intentional silhouettes, and beautiful pieces that work together to create a feeling, not just a look. Your wardrobe and outfit should evoke emotion - joy, excitement, confidence just to name a few. We all know that when we like our outfit, we have a better time!
But let’s talk about the part that trips everyone up: dress codes.
We’ve been conditioned to see dress codes as rigid rules, but in reality, they’re more like guidelines with some room for interpretation. In general, the key components to consider are length, cut and material as well as understanding the spirit of the dress code.
Here’s how to think about it:
• Black Tie & Formal: The most formal of events (outside of white tie, but most people will never go to a white tie event LOL). Think gowns, solid colors, elegance, and polish. Luxe fabrics, strong silhouettes, and accessories that feel thought out. Don't forget to consider hair and makeup here, polished styles are needed to support the formality of the look and event. This is the most modest when it comes to dress code. For men, this means a tuxedo.
• Cocktail and Semi-Formal: This is when you can start to be a little more playful with your look! Hemlines can come up, you can introduce a print and fun embellishments. Cocktail shouldn't be confused with clubbing though...there is still a level of formality we want to bring here.
• Daytime Events (Bridal, Graduations): This is your most casual of event, but still comes with a level of polish. I love a structured cotton poplin dress for events like these. Think about the event you're headed to and embody the vibe. These looks can have a lightness and ease to them, but should still feel celebratory.
• Relaxed Entertaining: You're in your own (or maybe your friends') home so things can be a lot more casual, but you want your look to read effortless, not careless. This is a time to balance your elevated basics with thoughtful layering, and subtle statements.
Inside this week’s edit, you’ll find looks that fit for all of the codes I've outlined. Outfits that will carry you confidently into any room, any setting, any occasion—without second guessing. Because the most powerful thing you can wear is clarity and confidence in how you show up.
