2025 Swimwear Guide
As a wardrobe stylist, I always say that swimwear isn’t just about function—it’s fashion’s boldest statement in the least amount of fabric. Whether you’re lounging poolside or heading to a beach resort, your swimsuit should align with your personal style and body confidence. This season, we’re seeing everything from sculptural one-pieces to retro high-waisted bikinis, all offering a mix of coverage, support, and style that works far beyond the water.
The key is fit. A well-fitting swimsuit can define your waist, elongate your legs, enhance your posture and boost your confidence. I saw it yesterday when my client was dancing in my fitting studio with her new fire red swimsuit on!
For a streamlined look, go for solid colors or strategic color blocking. If you love a little flair, try textural details like ruching or ribbed fabric, which not only add visual interest but can also flatter the body beautifully. And don’t overlook the power of a strong neckline—halter, asymmetrical, or plunging styles can work magic when chosen with intention.
Of course, your swimwear look isn’t complete without the right styling. Lightweight cover-ups, statement sunglasses, and refined sandals take your look from simple to elevated. If you’re investing in one new piece this year, make it versatile—something you can pair with linen trousers for a beachside lunch or a sarong for evening cocktails. When trying to maximize styling capabilities, shop in a color palette so you can either mix and match bikinis or wear the same coverup with multiple suits.
If you've struggled with swimwear in the past, my best suggestion is to order many and in multiple sizes. It's great to be able to try on suits in the comfort of your own home to have the next size available if needed. Also, your swimsuit is not the place to cut costs. I've had clients purchase inexpensive suits and think they were amazing until I put them in a quality one. Here is one place where I feel like price makes a difference.
Another great general tip is to think about when you get dressed and what parts of your body you like to highlight or distract from. The same applies to your suit. Getting strategic about where you place embellishments, the cut of your bottoms, even the colors and prints you choose can make all the difference when selecting your best swimsuit.
If you missed out on last week's promo for my Swimwear Masterclass and Body Course bundle, I've decided to offer it again for this weekend. The courses will significantly help you to successfully choose a suit but also carry over into dressing yourself daily. Purchase the bundle here for $39. Those who opt into the bundle will also receive a comprehensive swim guide filled with in depth guidance in addition to links and looks to use when choosing a suit.
