A Gentle Reminder This Mother’s Day

A Gentle Reminder This Mother’s Day

Somewhere between school drop-offs, work deadlines, group texts, and making sure everyone else has what they need, it becomes far too easy to place yourself at the very bottom of your own list. But here’s the truth: you are deserving, too. Deserving of care, of beauty, of moments that feel like yours. Not as a reward for doing everything for everyone else—but simply because you exist and you matter.

This Mother’s Day, I want to gently challenge the idea that treating yourself is indulgent or unnecessary. Investing in yourself—whether that’s something you wear, an experience you savor, or simply time you protect—is not extra. It’s essential. When you feel good, when you feel seen, when you feel like you, everything around you benefits. The way you show up shifts. The energy in your home shifts.

I recently had a similar conversation with a client. She said that when she first started working with me it felt excessive. It felt vain. She knew that it was something she had to do for herself, but she still felt guilty about it. Quickly after working together it all clicked. It wasn't selfish, it wasn't excessive... It was exactly what she needed to reset her energy and to be able to pour into her family even more. I think this 'mom guilt' is common... spending on yourself when you know you've got sporting commitments coming up and a home projects wishlist a mile long.

The house doesn’t run best when you’re running on empty—it runs best when you feel fulfilled. So as you browse this gift guide, consider this your permission slip to choose something for yourself, too. Not last, not “if there’s time,” but intentionally. Because taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s foundational.
