Outfit Formulas that Work
An outfit formula is a repeatable styling framework. It is a go-to combination of clothing categories and proportions that consistently work for your lifestyle, body, and personal style.
Rather than thinking in terms of individual outfits, outfit formulas get you thinking in components. You may be familiar with some more traditional outfit formulas, like Top + Layer + Bottom + Shoe = Outfit, but some more modern outfit formulas get you thinking about texture, print and color and rely heavily on the foundation of good quality wardrobe basics (last week's winter basics guide is a great resource for this!).
This week, we're looking at two outfit formulas to help you get dressed with ease.
What makes utilizing formulas so powerful, is that once the formula is set, you can swap colors, fabrics, or details without re-thinking the entire look. Outfit formulas can help to reduce decision fatigue, create cohesion across your wardrobe, make shopping more intentional and ensure outfits feel polished, not random.
This week, we're looking at two outfit formulas: Texture Trio and Neutrals with a pop of color or pattern. It is a fresh take on outfit formulas, getting you to think about depth, dimension and visual interest. If you're someone that likes a more traditional outfit formula like the one I noted above, you can easily layer these formulas on top as an additional notation and guide when choosing textures, colors and patterns.
