How My Ski Jacket Changed My Life
Dressing for a day on the slopes is all about striking the perfect balance between performance, warmth, and elevated personal style. This week’s newsletter is one that hits pretty close to home for me not only because I ski, but also because my ski attire played a pivotal role in my success as a skier.
Skiing was something I always wanted to try, but never did until I was an adult. My husband grew up skiing and taught himself how to snowboard (show off 😘). When we first started dating he tried to teach me how to snowboard but after SEVERAL frustrating attempts, I finally decided it wasn’t for me.
Determined to pick up a winter sport, I tried skiing, this time with a new approach. I approached skiing like I do any new scenario: Dress the part and the rest will come. I got myself a waist cinching jacket in my color palette and fitted ski pants to coordinate. If I looked like a skier, maybe the rest would fall into place! If for nothing else, I felt like I belonged on the mountain!
Fast forward to a few years later, I can confidently say I am an intermediate skier. I’m not venturing down any black diamonds and I still panic if I go too fast, but I look forward to skiing each winter!
Hopefully my story today has inspired you to try something new outside your comfort zone! Pro tip: wear a cute outfit the first time you try it 😉
If winter sports aren’t your jam, I get it. A lot of this week’s looks can be transformed into an elevated winter athleisure or casual look by swapping out some of the sportier pieces. For example, swap leggings for denim and weather boots for your favorite suede booties.
