Experiment With Color This Spring
This week we're talking all about color and highlighting the official NYFW Pantone colors for Spring/Summer 2026. But that's not all! If you're local to South Jersey, I've got an exciting event announcement too!
When it comes to wearing color, I hear from so many women that it feels scary. What colors look good together? What colors look best on me? When shopping, choosing the 'right' color feels like a decision that their life depends on, afraid to choose the wrong hue.
I get it, as we've aged, black just seems to be the safe bet. With all of the other things we're juggling, experimenting with color does not rank high on the list. Color is so much more than that though. It has the ability to spark emotion, to lift spirits, even to make you smile.
There are two things that can help you feel more confident around wearing color: understanding color techniques, and getting a color analysis. Understanding color techniques will help you pair different hues together and use color strategically, while getting a color analysis will help you understand which of those hues are right for you. (Pssst: Host a color analysis party this spring and your besties will love you forever).
Here is a visual of the different color styling techniques and what they mean:
1. Monochromatic - Wearing the same hue from head to toe, often done in all black however, you can do this with any shade. It makes getting dressed so easy because you just choose all pieces in the same color. It also has the same slimming effect that all black does. Because there are no breaks in the look, the eye travels up and down giving a slimming illusion just as black does.
2. Tonal - Pairing different shades of the same hue together. Think hot pink with baby pink or light blue with navy.
3. Color blocking with analogous colors - Pairing colors next to each other on the color wheel. Think pairing yellow and orange or green and blue.
4. Color blocking with complimentary colors - Pairing colors opposite each other on the color wheel. This is the most bold of the styling techniques. Think pairing orange and purple or green and red together.
Understanding how to wear color can bring clarity to your getting ready process! It can be the focal point of a look and make a statement even if the silhouette is simple.
Before we get into this week's shopping guide, I have an exciting event announcement for the women local to South Jersey! To celebrate Spring's hottest accessory, the brooch, I'm hosting a pop-up brooch bar at Scout and Molly's boutique in Cherry Hill! The event is next Saturday, April 4th from 10am-2pm with and will feature brooches and other vintage jewelry pieces from the Archives! You'll also have an opportunity to get styling advice from me on pieces from their spring collection!
