The ONE thing you Need to Know Before Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It has been probably since I was about 5 years old. Each year we would visit my grandmother in NYC and chow on delicious Puerto Rican food and the best damn turkey ever cooked. (I’m still working on that). So needless to say, hosting for my family has been a HUGE honor and something I look forward to all year.

You're Amazing

To continue on my quest to spread positivity, I ‘sat down’ with my girl Suzanne Taylor to discuss positive self image. I pains me to work with someone, or heck, just to know someone that struggles with inner demons. Yes, I’m boosting confidences one closet at a time, but if you don’t truly believe in yourself, new clothes are only going to be a quick fix. Everyone has something to be thankful for, everyone has something amazing about themselves and that my friend, is something to remember (especially for when we talk about bathing suits next week!)

Bravery

I find it interesting the things other people say to you that stay with you forever. I often wonder if they even remember saying it? Do they know how their words made an impact? A client once said to me, ‘I want to be brave. I see the things you wear, you are brave. I want to be brave.’ Until that moment, I had never thought of myself as brave. I simply wear what makes me happy and dress to my mood.

Authentic Positivity

This feels a little different. What exactly, you say? All of it. I would normally be taking this time to write to you about my top tips on how to shop a sale rack, or list out the season’s current trends and how you can incorporate them into your personal style, but I’m not. Pretty much the only thing that is the same right now is the fact that I’m listening to Macklemore- if you didn’t know, now you know- HUGE FAN- and the comfy joggers I’ve got on.

Coronacation Fashion Checklist

Seriously. What is going on right now? At first, because I am not a worrier, like AT ALL, I wasn’t really worried about all that is happening right now. I think about to other times when I’ve talked to my mom about something serious and I would say, ‘EH, I dunno Ma, I’m just not worried about it.’ Her response would be, ‘WELL, you should be.’

Happy New Year!

Hey 2020! Nice to meet you!

I’ve thought about this post for a few days now, and unfortunately I’ve just written myself in circles. It should be inspirational, right? Motivational? Probably. But how many times can we read “New Year, New You” before we get numb to it? Today, by chance the sandwich shop I often work from was closed, so I’ve set up shop down the street at Starbucks. So picture it with me- me sitting at a high top, smelling the strong aroma of coffee, staring into space about what to talk to you all about. It should be relevant, real, honest and maybe even funny. I’ve got nothing. And then, I look to my left. They have a whole sticky note wall of motivational quotes written by customers. Its so beautiful seeing all of the different handwriting and motivating words. For whatever reason, this wall of thoughtful mantras seemed to pack more of a punch for me seeing it written. It was like seeing it in someone’s own handwriting made it feel more genuine.
