10 Things I learned in Dallas this week

If you follow me on social media or are in my close circle, you know that for the past week I've been in Dallas, Texas at the Hue and Stripe stylist conference. Hue and Stripe is the platform I utilize with all of my clients to catalog their wardrobes, create lookbooks, virtually shop for them, and is where the shopping guides in the newsletter are created.

In a few words, the conference was inspiring, humbling and valuable to my career as a stylist. I had the opportunity to take part in a panel discussion on client retention, host a breakout session on maximizing your business as a stylist, and host a roundtable mentor hour.

To those stylists who subscribe to my newsletter, thank you so much for all of your kind words and positive feedback this week. I absolutely love what I do and am completely humbled to hear that you've found my work and business inspiring. I'm rooting for you too.

The week was nothing short of amazing. I had so many takeaways that stretched beyond the styling industry that I wanted to share with you all. Here are 10 things I learned at the Hue and Stripe conference that any woman can relate to:

  1. Mindset is everything. Think small, live small. Dream big and big opportunities will find their way to you.

  2. There is nothing you 'can't wear'.

  3. Connections are vital to your success. Network with people doing more than you to get in the rooms you want to.

  4. There is no right or wrong way to do something. Just because you do something differently, doesn't mean it's wrong.

  5. Authenticity over imitation always wins.

  6. You can lead from a place of power when your head is in the right place.

  7. Take action before you feel like it. When the spirit moves you, the opportunity likely has moved too.

  8. Discipline over dopamine. Be disciplined as to what will benefit you in the long run versus what is going to give you a quick cheap thrill right now.

  9. Certainty is magnetic. Stop doubting yourself, your decisions or your preferences.

  10. Success responds to your identity. Identify as a high performer, adopt those habits and the success will follow.

This week was powerful, impactful and was just so beautiful. I loved connecting with so many other stylists, I loved meeting the ones I have relationships with in person (finally!), I enjoyed learning from those who have been in the game longer than I have, and loved sharing my knowledge with the stylists who are just entering the industry.

I'll leave you with my favorite quote of the week:

This week I put together a catalog of my stylist favorites! These are items I buy repeatedly for clients or items I love myself! I also cataloged all the looks I wore this week (and even those that I didn't... never did make it to the workout sessions LOL). Shop the guide here
