One of the most common questions I get from women is, what shoe do I wear with that? Often the wrong shoe can completely ruin or date your look. This week I put together a sandals guide to show you what's trending for the season and what current styles look like. As I age, my feet have less and less tolerance for uncomfortable shoes, so you'll even find a comfort, wide width and arch support section.

When it comes to styling your summer looks this season, here are a few tips to help guide you in the right direction:

1. Rubber flip flops should be reserved for pool or beach activities. There are better options for your casual looks, check out the 'Flat sandals' section in the guide! A minimalist leather sandal is the perfect choice for your casual looks.

2. The heeled thong sandal is the hot shoe of the season. I personally love it in kitten heel height for its wearability.

3. Form fitting dresses will lay on the body best if you wear a heel of some sort.

4. A-line and flowy dresses are great with flat and heeled sandals. Choose based on your mood and function.

5. Modern wedge sandals have a thinner sole and are slimmer than styles we saw in previous seasons.

6. Genuine leather and suede sandals will last you multiple seasons. Faux leather will also peel more quickly in the summer sun and if it gets wet.

7. Jelly sandals are trending and are great for water functions but if they don't align with your personal style and lifestyle, skip them. They'll be out of style soon.

8. A metallic flat sandal is a wardrobe staple and is my favorite way to complete a summer look as they still look dressy like an evening shoe but don't sacrifice comfort or wearability on grass.

9. If you're looking to slim or elongate the leg-line, opt for styles without an ankle strap.

10. When shopping for new shoes, consider your lifestyle first. If you're looking for a pair for a special occasion, consider how else you will wear them this season to ensure you're getting the most out of your purchases.
